Patricia Urquiola
A high-profile darling of the design world, Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo, Spain in 1961. She studied Architecture at Madrid Polytechnic, then Milan Polytechnic with Achille Castiglioni. In 2001 she opened her studio in Milan, where she designs for renowned Italian and international brands like B&B Italia, Louis Vuitton and Ferrari. Her work with Andreu World has produced the Nub armchairs and benches, and the Nuez chair, inspired by folded paper, and designed to make the seat shell a comfortable embrace. Urquiola has been named ‘Designer of the Year’ by numerous publications including Wallpaper magazine, Ad Spain, Elle Decor International and Architektur und Wohnen, and ‘Designer of the Decade’ by Home and Häuser magazines. She has also been awarded the Gold Medal of Fine Arts by the Spanish Government.
