Matthew Prince
Matthew Prince is a furniture designer based in Tasmania. He graduated from the Australian School of Fine Furniture and the School of Architecture and Design, at University of Tasmania, where he currently lectures. His practice is concerned with designing furniture solutions that respond to the needs and desires of the end user. Matthew’s work is constantly informed by the making process itself. His work is holistically elegant, expressive in its materials and honest in its making. He believes that a piece of furniture should not be considered a stand-alone piece but rather a component used to complete an environment. Since launching Matthew Prince Design in 2011 at Sawtooth ARI Gallery, he has exhibited nationally as well as participating in exciting collaborations.
