The Helen Kontouris brand was created under the designers name in 2001, and since 2005, has predominantly focused on product and industrial design. Renowned for her use of contrasting materials, Kontouris’ work has often been described as feminine and sculptural. Her products invite exploration and an intimate and sensory engagement beyond their immediacy. The approach to each project is an opportunity to discover, learn, evolve, simplify, interpret, innovate and create. Helen Kontouris Design challenges and redefines the project to enable exploration of possibilities. The team believes ecology in design today, rests on the role of the designer as the cultural architect, creating products with clear purpose, intelligent material appropriateness and function that arrest you with their beauty and promote a movement ‘against throwawayism’.
